Family Success Center
of Etowah County
The COVID-19 Response:
For now, the lobby hours will be from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Thursday and by appointment on Fridays.
We recommend having an appointment rather than dropping by. We will be limiting the number of people in the lobby in order to maintain social distancing. Masks will be required in the building. If you arrive without a mask, we will either give you one or you will be asked to return to your vehicle and call to reschedule your appointment or make other arrangements.
We are taking additional steps to clean and sanitize our building for everyone’s safety. The cleaning service will be working overtime, and you will see hand sanitizer and wipes throughout the building for your use while here.
The mission of the Family Success Center is to see every family in Etowah County be safe, stable, and strong. These precautions are our attempt to balance the need for services with the need for all of our health. We apologize for any inconvenience these measures cause you, but we appreciate (and will insist upon) your cooperation.
We apologize for this temporary inconvenience, but these measures are for all our own safety.

MISSION STATEMENT AND VISION
The Mission of the Family Success Center is to strengthen the families of Etowah County until they are financially stable, emotionally healthy and nonviolent.
The Family Success Center is a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive and coordinated services allowing families to make positive changes in their lives.
The vision for the Family Success Center began nineteen years ago as community and agency leaders saw the need for a "one-stop" social and family services center. Through the efforts of people like Bob Echols, Karen Owen, Gregg Bennett, Mike Haney and others, a coalition of services agencies, health care providers, educators, career development specialists, church, and civic organizations was formed. Property was purchased by the City of Gadsden utilizing Community Development Block Grant Dollars, and the Family Success Center sprang into being as a partnership with the United Way of Etowah County, the City of Gadsden, and Gadsden State Community College. Marie Franklin Johnson was chosen as the first director, and the Center opened in a temporary location that we still call "the blue house" in July of 2001. The permanent location, a key part of the East Gadsden Revitalization Project, was completed in August 2006. The Center experienced seventeen years of leadership and became a respected community agency under Mrs. Johnson's leadership, until her retirement in 2017. Many of the original Directors and Officers are still involved in the Center today, and we grateful for the strong support of the generous people of Etowah County.
