The Mission of the Family Success Center is to strengthen the families of Etowah County until they are financially stable, emotionally healthy, and nonviolent.

The Family Success Center is a non-profit organization that provides comprehensive and coordinated services allowing families to make positive changes in their lives.

The vision for the Family Success Center began twenty-one years ago as community and agency leaders saw the need for a "one-stop" social and family services center. Through the efforts of people like Bob Echols, Karen Owen, Gregg Bennett, Mike Haney, and other influential individuals, a coalition of services agencies, health care providers, educators, career development specialists, churches, and civic organizations, the Center was formed. Property was purchased by the City of Gadsden utilizing Community Development Block Grant Dollars, and the Family Success Center sprang into being as a 501(c)3 Nonprofit organization.  The immediatel partnerships with the United Way of Etowah County, the City of Gadsden, and Gadsden State Community College were crucial in our success. Marie Franklin Johnson was chosen as the first director, and the Center opened in a temporary location  that we still call "the blue house" in July of 2001, was torn down in 2020. The permanent location, a key part of the East Gadsden Revitalization Project, was completed in August 2006. The Center experienced seventeen years of leadership and became a respected community agency under Mrs. Johnson's leadership, until her retirement in 2017. Many of the original Directors and Officers are still involved in the Center today, and we grateful for the strong support of the generous people of Etowah County.
